crushed foot

Hi
Can anyone help me? 18mths my left foot was crused by a forklift.  I have 3 metertarsals breaks and a lis franc facture.  I have had 1 and half toes amputated and a skin graft.
I have used compression garments from july 07 until now but my foot still swells,
Is there anything that can be done to reduce the swelling and safe me weraing the garments all the time.  I live in the tropics and the heat really gets to me.
Please help
Thanks Jo

Hi there
How long ago did your accident happen?  They were going to amputate my foot in the beginning but somehow it survived.  I have thought about having it cut off but I am glad I did not.  This does not mean to say in the future I wont. How long were you with Workcover isnt that a whole new world to deal with.
The best thing I was ever given was a shoe with a rocker sole on it and orthoitics this helped with my walking and now I dont need them as much.  Also i have found that the Birkenstock range of shoes is very good as the footbed moulds to the shape of your foot. I have no arch left as my bones have all collasped. I also get 3mthly cortizone shots into my broken bones to relieve the inflamation the best pain relief ever.
Are you still getting any treatment??
Hope ever day gets a little better for take care Jo

after me dealing with work comp and all the differnt things. i was told long time ago it would be fixed by cuttn it off. well at the time of 18 yo i thought i was superman but , now i know im not. i lost 3 toes and the other 70% of foot was squished. now im begging them to cut it off so i can go on with life and not haveing ot worrie when is it going to mess up again. mine swellls a lil and it makes the foot roll from side to side. it hurts nonstop. a hour walking around inside the barn puts me into 2 vicoden750s range. then all i can do is sit around and hold the spotsss that keep sharply hurting. btw it was a door that got me. 10by15 1/4 plate. if they tell you to think about it being cut off    listen.    hope this helps heith
