Hi there!

Fractures normally take 6-8 weeks to heal and weight bearing is essential atleast for the first 4-6 weeks to avoid stress on the region that could hamper proper healing of the fracture. Healing beyond this time is difficult. Weight bearing should be done only after prior instruction by your treating orthopedician after an evaluation that suggests appropriate healing. I would suggest discussing the same with your orthopedic surgeon.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!

HI,
Weight bearing should not be tried unless your treating Doctor gives the green signal. Weight bearing can delay healing especially in advancing age. Supplements of calcium, vitamin D and anti-inflammatory agents will help.
Take care and good luck.
