Hello!

Any orthopedic procedure will cause pain due to inflammation and the insertion of hardware which sure will be painful and the pain factor will take a period of 3-4 weeks to decrease.

You would need to check by a follow up X-ray after surgery that everything is fine and at place.

The most important thing for you thou is maintaining strict asepsis to avoid any for of infections.

Take care!

I broke my tiba in 2 spots and my fibula they inserted a rod and put 2 plates and screws at my ankles. The pain medication does help. I am going to call my DR. tomorrow to see if my pain around the rod is normal. Thanks for your support during this tough time.

i had a rod in my femur about 20 years ago. it was pretty unpleasant. they fasten them in very securely so i dont think it will pop out, but it sure does hurt as i remember. it wont be this bad forever, but if they put a rod in your leg, it likely needed to be done. did you fracture your leg? i would just keep in contact with your doc, take your pain meds, and try to rest as much as you can. now is a good time for you to ask for help.
i hope that you feel better soon and please let me know how you are doing- i wish it was better for you, but it will get better.
