Hi there,

38 yrs of age I was in excruciating pain and went to ER a week ago, had a CT scan and X-ray, confirmed a 5cm cyst on my right Ovary, the pain is Unbareable, I was in to see my Gyn I'm booked for surgery June 2/11 he says he will be removing my bad Ovary, due to my history of endometriosis, I don't know If I can wait that long?? I can't even go to work, because the pain is so intense, I'm afraid I might get fired UGH!! is there anything other than T-4's and Toradal that can help me? I REALLY need to work, but, I also need something stronger for pain!

Let's not jump too far ahead. First thing is that your Dr. will review the report and then dependent on what type of cyst you have, decide what treatment (if any ) is best for you. Not all cysts are cancer by any stretch of the imagination. They are very very common and 95% benign. Many times they are simply watched for a few months to see if they resolve themselves on their own.. If, after a few months, it has still not disappeared, they may consider removing it. Very simple procedure.. outpatient.

When do you see your Dr. again? Let us know and in the meantime, check out the top right of this page "Health Pages" .  You will find lots of information about cysts.
