Age of cyst onset

I am 39 and only recently started having ovarian cysts.  They were not tested for cancer.  At the time I was undergoing a complete thyroidectory for thyroid cancer.  It seems strange to have both things going wrong at the same time.  I am going to the OB tomorrow - should I be worried about ovarian cancer.  I am in a lot of pain on my right side and feel a burning sensation frequently.  Thanks

Thanks for the support and advice!  I'll try the heat packs and ibuprofen - boy it's lousy getting old!

I didn't have to take anything for pain too often; I have a high tolerance for pain, I think.  But I have heard people mention heat packs and motrin.  Hope you feel better.

I guess also that the Dr. explained they are very , very common in premenopausal women. Truthfully, the pain I had was not severe. What has the Dr. advised? Many times they will simply monitor the cyst for a few months. Many times they simply disappear on their own. ..Hopefully that will be the case for you..

Keep us posted,
Sandy

Thanks OB said today that they were "normal" cysts - but boy they hurt!  How do you cope with the pain?

Please try not to worry ..You might check out "Health Pages" at the top right of this page. It has a lot of information on cysts. .

Cysts can often cause a lot of pain and discomfort, but luckily, that doesn't mean they're cancerous.  Most of them (95%) are benign.  With age the risk for cancer gets slightly higher, but you shouldn't torture yourself worrying about it.  Wait to see what the doctor says.  Hope everything turns out fine.  Keep us posted, please.
