hi there
please try not to worry u are doing the right things by staying on top of your health concerns and that is fantastic
one of my cysts was about ur size and they were another kind of ovca ... not the frankly malignant kind that is o so scary ... they are termed borderline and they are almost always cured by surgery... now if left in there for years i am told they do become malignant so i pray u are lucky like i am and u got this nice and early ... i am 43 as well
i had indigestion, change in urinary habits, change in bowel habits, and towards the end i had nausea and no period and about a 16 lb weight gain that went away post op ... one was 10 cm and the other 5 cm when they found them on a TVUS... and i had all of it removed (called a tah/bso) ... i adopted the attitude (that i learnt from the other women here) to keep pressing the docs, seek a second opinion and don't worry until someone tells u its time to worry :) ... i will pray u both get thru this with the best possible outcomes
love
sharon
It's tough I am pulling for you
I know .. it's very easy to jump to the cancer conclusion but try not to. As we said , that's a pretty decent sized cyst.Don't forget though that all cysts are 95% benign.. and are very common. There are a number of ladies on the forum that have had large cysts and did not have cancer.-- Island gurl for instance.. But I know it is worrisome. Did you check the "Health Pages" at the top right of this page?
Please try not to worry and the 17th isn't that far off ... Let us know how it turns out!

I am 45 years old and have just received the results of my pelvic ultrasound. I have been told over the phone that I have a cyst on my left overy measuring 11.3cm by 6.7cm. I am scheduled to see the doctor on Oct. 17th to discuss the finding. I am really scared because of course I am thinking cancer and haven't been told otherwise. I am not going to have anymore children so, I am thinking of course that I need to tell the doctor that I just want to have a hysterectomy. I need some advice please.
Hi, sorry for all your problems. you should go back and read my posts. I had a lot of similar symptoms. My cyst was tennis ball size, and it did resolve on it's own over 3 months. but I actually lost weight. I was hungary, but I would feel really full as soon as i started eating. I'm probably the only person to gain weight in the hospital after surgery. All I did was eat in there !lol Hopefully this will resolve itself. good luck.
Hi,
Let's start with the easy one first. Fifteen lbs. in one year is not extreme... I hate to say this because it sounds so trite, but the truth is that after a certain age, one does tend to put on a little wt. unless one is vigilant with exercise etc... And yes, I know there are people that do not gain wt. . but simply put.. this should not be a cause of concern .
The thickened lining could be simply a part of your cycle.
That 's a pretty decent sized cyst, but going on BC pills is a treatment choice... Cysts are exremely common in younger women. Usually they simply go away on their own...If, after the bc pills it doesn't shrink, then they may make a decision for surgery (and usually it's outpatient) ..
All in all, I think you're getting good advice...Keep us posted though and hope you feel better,
Sandy
