QUESTION ABOUT ULTRASOUND RESULTS !!!

Hi folks,

I had an ultrasound done last week and expect results soon. The radiographer was very non committal so I'm a bit worried. She asked a lot of questions about previous abdominal surgery 30 years ago to remove a huge cyst and took a lot of measurements on my right side. She then moved on to my kidneys ,seemed very relieved and announced that they were normal. She sure didnt say this about my ovaries !!
I have had a bowel blockage which showed on a recent x ray, bloating, pressure on my bladder, nausea and low back pain...all of which feels like another cyst. I'm 50 and post menapausal so a little worried.
My question is this ...if the ultrasound reveals nothing should I push for more tests given my previous history? I am almost certain Its a cyst as I suffered the same symtoms all these years ago for a whole year as no one took me seriously until the cyst was huge.
I guess I am assuming that I am going to have the same trouble getting a diagnosis and age is against me this time.
Any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks

the blood test to look closer at your ovaries is a CA125 test.

hi..a transvaginal is where they insert a wand inside your vagina. doesnt hurt at all.  they can see your ovaries better that way. what do you mean when you said, watch this space? do you mean for me to keep watching for your reply? lol.. if so, i will.

Hi thanks for reassurance. Got results of transabdominal scan today and it seemed fine. My GP said it was unlikely that the scan missed anything and asked if it was a transvaginal  to which I replied no......She is going to do some blood tests  to have a closer look at my ovaries? do you know what this is?   My bowel is blocked so my GP is working on clearing this to see if its the source of all my pain and discomfort However she dosn't know what has caused this....she was thinking it was a cyst pressing on my bowel so now they are  flumaxed. So am I..... My GP says that she is not taking her eye of the ball though.... so watch this space.
Take care

Hi...i know how scared you are..me too.. if the transvaginal doesnt show anything i would relax a bit..but if you are having pain..i would ask for them to do another kind of test..MRI or CAT.   but again..relax if the transvaginal doesnt show anything.. there are so many things that could be going on...might even be as simple as a bladder infection. or even diverticuli. and many many more..lol. please let us know what you find out. take care!!!
