Bowel Prep?

Hi-
My surgery is in 12 hours.  I am on 4th hour of bowel prep and NOTHING has happened?  Anyone have this experience?  I am not a constipated person at this time so I am confused.  I ate lightly yesterday (only meal was breakfast, had a light lunch of soup and jello, same for dinner) had to do the liquid diet today.

I am starving and want to sleep!  I have to take meds to ward of infection at 8,9. and 12....still nothing with the prep though?

You don't drink Fleet....it's sort of like a "dou_he" for the butt.  Gross, but I don't know how else to describe it.  I intentionally misspelled the word because the "bad word" scanner sometimes doesn't like it.

Does GoLYTELY sound like the solution you had to drink?

I had to drink a solution from the drug store, it was not fleet....I can't remember the name it was two names....and it was really cheap!  It did eventually work.  I  think my system is waking up now a few days later, should be an interesting AM!

Fleet is another option, yes, but that brings an instantaneous result.  Medication involves a waiting period.  None of the options are pleasant.

You get medication for bowel prep? I have to use Fleet enemas the day before my surgery. I am not looking forward to that!

I am tremendously curious to know what medication they gave you for bowel prep.  I suspect it is something different than what they gave to me.  And something far less horrible, too.

It finally started to work, what a breeze!  I think my internal plan of liquid diet for the most part the day before worked, I went a few times, no pain and it was a successful prep.  I will post on my surgery, that is another story!

I am probably writing a bit too late and you are probably already at the hospital by now.  I suspect you probably had a sleepless night, but no worries, you will catch up plenty after the surgery.

I don't think anyone is immune to these laxatives but they may take longer than expected to work.

My bowel prep was via GoLYTELY®.  What did they have you take?
