CT results?

I've been having lower abdomen pain on the left side. I've been back and forth to different Drs.. My GYN did an interal u/s and found nothing. I went to my primary and they said bc of the location, it was a possible hernia. If it got worse to go to the ER. They were sending me for a CT the next day. Well the pain got so bad that night, I went to the ER. They did a CT and said it was normal. That was back in November '07. Ive since gone back to my GYN and they said the pain was located near my bladder and to see a urologist. I went and they pulled my CT report from November. I got a call and they had asked if they told me about inflammation to my lower organs. I said no obviously or I wouldn't have been to another Dr. She suggested I see my primary and get another CT. I went and they scheduled another CT. I also got a copy of the report and it said ''right adnexal cyst'' (along with the inflammation). Well I got the results for the new CT and although the inflammation is gone, it now says ''bilateral adnexal hypodensities'' likely related to the ovaries. I'm not sure what it means. Ive read different things and gotten information from other people. What exactly does ''bilateral adnexal hypodensities'' mean? I have another appt in a couple wk's with my GYN.

It probably is not cancerous. There is a less than 5% chance of that. Cysts are a very common monthly occurence. Most of the time they go away on their own. You will find a lot more information on cysts on the Ovarain Cyst Forum here on MedHelp. Check it out. You could also ask questions over there. Good luck.

Nope, the only symptoms I have is the lower abdominal pain. Very sensitive to touch. Ive been having the pains for almost a yr now. The fact that the ER neglected to inform me of anything has me paranoid that maybe it could have been helped 7 months ago and it's turned into something worse now that it hasnt gone away on the right and is also on the left. When they did an internal u/s right before the first CT in November it didn't show any cysts. I assume it's bc it wasn't big enough to be visible? I'm just concerned about what it all actually means. Could it be something serious or not. I'm 23 yo.

It is a cystic mass most likely on your ovaries. Yours are very dense. Do you have other symptoms besides the lower abdominal pain? Make sure you keep that appointment with the gyn in two weeks. At that appointment, you can discuss options and any other questions you may have. Write down your questions so you don't forget!!!! Good luck and keep us posted.
