You can request that your GYN to surgicaly remove it. I too had a hystorectomy 8 years ago and left the ovaries, and I do not have a uterus or cervix either. About 6 weeks ago I was diagnoised with at 1.8 x 2.5 cm cyst on my right overy. At first they thought it was a endometrioma cyst but then had another ultrasound 4 weeks later and it showed my cyst had grown to 4.5 x 5.0 cm and my GYN does not think its an endomtrioma cyst but a hemohraggic cyct (sorry don't know how to spell it). Anyways, she wanted my to go on birth control but because I'm a smoker and in my late 30's there are some risks. She wanted to try me on something else (can't remember what) but I said no, I told her I just wanted to her to remove my overy all together, I'm not comfortable with it being left and doing the watch and see approach. I am now scheduled for surgery on April 1st to have my overies removed. You can request/demand for her to remove it, if she does not want to then I would recommend going for a 2nd opinion. It is your body and no one knows your body better than you. If you are concerned about the cyst or if it's causing pain, you should have it removed. My only concern now is that once my overies are removed I am going into menopause and will need to go on estrogen replacement therapy for the next 10-12 years, which also has some risks. I hope everything works out for you. Please keep us posted on how things go. Take care of yourself.
I have a 3cm cyst on the right ovary and all it does is leak. It is very painful and have had enough. I have been in the ER 3 times cause of the pain. I finally have an appointment with my GYN on March 5th. I will tell her that I want it removed. I have tried everything for this and nothing has worked. I just hope the gyn will listen to me.
Good Luck on your surgery
I have my GYN appointment today and I am very nervous. I am hoping that they will help me today. I have been waiting for months for help. I have been turned down 3 times so far. I woke up at 5:30am est in severe pain. I am still in pain.
