Dermoid Cyst
I found out today I have a Dermoid Cyst on my right ovary...I am 55 and menopausal. I have been sick for a few weeks RUQ pain and radiating through my back, very nauseated, threw up once, bloated, light pain in lower right pelvic on and off, tired. My nerves are about shot...My PCP sent me for a CT scan and this was the result, I have yet to see my Gynecologist I called them today to see what my next step is...I really hate the waiting game...Any suggestions? Need to calm my nerves.
Hi! Sorry to hear you have to have surgery, but hopefully with faith and strength you will feel so much better! I wish my surgery was scheduled already the waiting game is so hard and makes me nervous. I am still waiting to hear from my gynecologist to see what my next step is. Hi there, I too am going in for surgery for ovarian cysts (endometriomas) and endometriosis. I've had the same symptoms and too am very nervous for surgery on December 17th.

Thanks for your response! I will let you know when I find out anything. This is my first experience with this type of problem and facing a surgery. I am a bit nervous but praying the outcome will be a good one!

I don't think dermoid cysts (which contain solid tissues such as hair, teeth, skin, bone) resolve on their own. But they are always benign. So if it is truly a dermoid, it will likely need to be surgically removed. But you should not need to lose your ovary even though many gynecologists remove ovaries instead of removing just the cyst (cystectomy). The ovaries produce hormones into a woman's 80's for good physical, mental, emotional, and sexual health. The removal of even one ovary can permanently disrupt natural hormone production. I can attest to the permanent harm of female organ removal. My gynecologist should have removed just my ovarian cyst. Instead he removed all my female sex organs - uterus, ovaries, tubes. This has caused permanent and progressive anatomical, skeletal, hormonal, and sexual destruction. Our organs have LIFELONG functions.
