Did you get your MRI Sept 30th? What were the results?
My MRI results showed nothing on my ovary. A bit confused by that bc the gyno felt a mass there the month before (I see him end of the month for follow up perhaps he can explain). The only explanation I have is that perhaps it was a cyst that ruptured.... wouldn't a person feel that though, or maybe it slowly drained. Anyway my symptoms have not improved so I don't think this mass (cyst) was the source of my symptoms. The MRI showed that my fibroid has grown even more since my ultrasound in June. I wonder if the fibroid can explain my gastrointestinal problems.
Hope you are well and have some answers since we last talked. Keep me posted.
Sounds awful. My symptoms started March, hard to believe it takes over 6 months to get an MRI. How did you know the cyst broke? I don't get stomach pains, to give you some background these are my symtoms:
loose stools, diarrhea, gas, nausea, bloating (all the time)
no appetite, weight loss, (occassional)
pelvic and low back pain, pressure to bladder and rectum, night sweats (worsen during menses)
I can feel a mass (confirmed by gyno) on left side that sometimes goes rigid.
And (may or may not be asssociated) right shoulder pain, aching in arms and legs
Scarey symptoms, hoping there is something benign that explain all of this. Are your symptoms similar? Thanks for listening and for your advice and I hope you will feel better soon.
I have been going through this since last February. Never got a appointment for MRI even though city oncologist suggested one from my gyno. The hemorrhagic cyst broke at the first of August and I still continued to feel extremely gassy in the night especially when laying down on left side and very nauseous by morning and this happens every night. I asked to have another ultra sound done because I was still feeling soo sick and I don't get another one of those until September 30th. I believe the cyst broke but filled up again. They noted on the US in August that there was several more fluid filled cysts on both ovaries. My question is this normal, never had trouble before with any of this? Waiting until september 30 is agony. The medical system in Canada is awful we all know that. Keep fighting until you get results is all I can tell you. Try to get through each day by keeping busy. I feel like I have gastritis so I have been bouncing back and forth between gastro dr and gyno. They still don't know. Do you get stomach pain also?
Yes I am from Canada. How long was/is your wait? I just found out I could have had my MRI done weeks ago through private clinic for $750 which I would have defiintely done given my symptoms. I have ten days left and could have done through private clinic in 4 days but saving 6 days going to make much difference now. I wish I had known this earlier. I should have been told that was an option, especially since I clearly expressed to the MRI book agent that I am experiencing a lot of pain and anxiety and that waiting a month was going to be extrememly difficult. Why did she not mention this option?
by any chance are you from Canada? The waiting is ridiculous
Thanks for your reply, I have had no luck at all. The original mri booking agent, still has not returned my calls and is still not answering her phone after 2 whole weeks. Wonder how she has a job at all. After all this time my MRI is now only 2 weeks away and the gyno nurse said that a month is very quick to get an MRI and they do not keep a cancellation list. So I guess I just have to wait and tolerate this pain.
I am so sorry to hear that. have you talked directly to your doctor about this. You should call and let his nurse know you want to speak with him. Tell him that you aren't comfortable waiting that long for something that has "chance" of being malignant. Even if it is benign it could cause great infection if it ruptures. It may help speed things along. I have never heard of a doctor being ok with waiting that long with a large, complex cyst. Best of luck to you!
The mri booking receptionist gave me her number before I left and said if you don't hear from me in 5 days call me. I have called her every day since (over a week now) and she does not answer her phone. I leave messages first short ones and then later longer ones explaining how much pain (emotionally and physically) I am in and she still hasn't called. Does she have no empathy at all? Anyway, I finally called the front desk and asked if there was anyone else I could speak with, that is when I was told a month. I will try the original receptionist again today and/or call the Gyn clinic again (although they couldn't help last week because the paperwork was not filed yet). Perhaps they will have it by now. Thanks for your advice.
Also, call your gyn and voice your concerns about waiting. He can hopefully call the MRI department and put a rush on things. Good luck!
That is not good. I would push for having it sooner. Even benign cysts can rupture and cause problems. You may be lost in the system. Sometimes, making a call and giving your personal story can make a difference. I hope you get your test soon!
I was there to discuss my fibroid. The gyn said the mass on my left side was bigger than my fibroid (which is grapefruit sized), and perhaps it was missed in the ultrasound because it was too big to fit in the screen? I don't know, I am a bit confused by it all myself. OR, my ultrasound was 4 months ago, perhaps the mass has just grown so much since then. Hmmmm??? A mystery. Anyway, my gyn requested an emergency MRI and yet I still have to wiat a month.
Hi Iwaited two months after ultrasound showed dermoid cyst before saw gync Am still waiting almost three weeks for MRI Take care Ellem 8888
It was one month from the time my gyn felt my mass until the gyn/onc operated. It would have been sooner except for insurance and scheduling issues. For suspicious ovarian masses, the sooner the better as far as removal. For masses that are large, but not complex, the turnaround may be longer. Doctors often watch and monitor a cyst under 5cm to see if it grows.
Many women who post have waited months for their surgeries. Since ovarian cancer is rare, it usually works out. Most cysts do turn out to be benign. But, you should discuss the wait time with your doctor and confirm your type of mass. If he thinks it could be a malignancy, ask to see a gynecologic oncologist.
Trust your instinct and if you don't feel you are getting proper care, seek a second opinion. I hope you find some answers soon!
