If it's a keyhole surgery, you should be up and moving the same day. Don't overdo it though. I've had two laparascopic surgeries (gallbladder and staging) and what really helps recovery time is to walk around slowly and carefully and not just sit like a lump and feel sorry for yourself- lesson learned the hard way :). It varies from person to person, you may feel ready to be back at work in a couple days, it may take a week, but i doubt it will take any longer than a week. good luck!
I am so happy to hear that your dermoid was benign!!! :) It sounds like you are doing great so soon after your surgery. Have you mentioned the shoulder pain to your doctor? It is always best to report any pain that is persistent even if it seems unrelated. Laying in bed recovering can really bother your muscles and cause that sort of pain too. I hope you continue to recover quickly!! :)
I got the procedure last Friday (4 days ago now). Everything went smoothly and initial tests showed the dermoid to be benign, so it looks good so far. I am feeling much better. First few days were the worst with dizziness, nausea, and exhaustion from the pain killers and incisions. I feel like I'm at about 60% back to normal if it weren't for these sharp shoulder pains. I had them in both shoulders yesterday but now the pain is concentrated in my right shoulder, as if it's wrapped from my shoulder blade to my clavicle. I've tried ice packs, hot water bottles, heat pads, wrapping in soft towels, etc but the only things that work are laying down or taking my prescription pain killers. Hopefully that gas escapes soon...
Thanks for the comment! I took 2 weeks off but I've heard the first 3 or so days are the worst and the rest is just being conscious of lifting, exercise, etc.so I'm hoping to feel better sooner than that.
I didn't have a dermoid but definitely had hormone issues with mine. You will find that you will feel pretty good after 2 weeks but be sure to be careful about overdoing it or lifting for another month.
