Exactly! If I dont think about it I breathe fine. If I struggle too much with the thought i start losing it and almost hyperventilating. I did that at my desk yesterday and it was rough at work having that happen. I think the nicotine withdrawal adds to it. 4 days of not smoking for my husband and I!
Yes I definitely think that it is anxiety. And sometimes when I yawn I can't get that satisfying breath.
It seems for the last two years I have symptom after symptom too. Here is a list of mine:
Microscopic blood in urine, frequent urination. Pain in lower left side. TVU showed nothing but I am convinced now I had a cyst then but they didn't see it. Had a cystoscopy done everything ok, probably internal cystitis.
Breast pain in both breast but mostly my right for 7 months. Had a mammo last Nov. everything fine.
Lump in throat constant heartburn, chest pains, Gerd. I never had a endoscopy because of my anxiety. And taking meds makes me anxious too but I did start on Pepcid and that is helping.
And now the cyst and stomach issues. The last few days I have nausea too. It is difficult to know when to take something serious or when it is anxiety related. Oh and I also get this pain on my right side had ultrasound, everything ok there too. And talk about emotional, I cry over hallmark commercials!
I have gone through a lot of stress in the last 6 years. A divorce, the loss of my sister, father, brother and I currently take care of my mother who has Alzheimers so its no wonder I'm a wee bit crazy! lol
Sorry this is so long, anyway don't worry about the breathing thing. Try doing some deep breathing exercises daily. The more I think about not being able to get a breath the more I can't so try to do something to take your mind off of it and it will come. :)
Me too---I am on the internet all day searching for answers! Do you think snxiety is what is causing my inability to take in a deep breath. Its not like Im gasping for air but I cant get a satisfying enough breath in at times. Now this Friday I get a full panel of blood work and a mammogram (more to worry about). I am 41 and have never had a mammo yet (I have breast implants so this should be a joy). I dont think I have acid reflux. A few years ago I had a laryngoscopy and my ENT said if I had it he would see evidence of it. None. Since I hit 40 I have been a non stop worry nut case with symptom after symptom. Maybe its perimemopause? My mom went through menopause in her 30s! I have no cancer of any kind in my family and my mom has 8 sisters. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ON THURSDAY I WILL SAY A PRAYER FOR YOU!!!!!
Yes I have two children ages 21 and 23. I have never been on bc pills but was thinking about asking the doctor if I should start. I am totally feeling like a hypochondriac! I even wake in the middle of the night to search symptoms and read stories!
I have suffered with anxiety/panic attacks my whole life and shortness of breath like you describe has certainly been one of my symptoms, can't get that deep breath. I go back to the doctor on Thursday for the US. Wish me luck!
Do you by chance suffer from acid reflux/gerd as well?
MY STORY EXACTLY! I am turning into a hypochondriac! I think I am only going to wait 6 wks from the last US.....not 2-3 months.! Do you have children? I was on the bc pill for 15 years. From what I have read, this may help protect but nothing is a sure thing of course.
Hi I am 46 going through the same thing. I started having left side pain and Dr. discovered a 1.6 hemorrhagic cyst on my ovary. She said to wait 2 cycles and check again but I am nervous because it has been two months and I am still having pain so I'm guessing it has not resolved in its own. I also feel a bit of discomfort on my right side now as well. I have had groin pain off and on lots of gas(sorry) and now the urge to urinate frequently. I am constantly on the internet reading different stories trying to ease my anxiety. The waiting is the worst!!!
ok so maybe it is my anxiety then. Its like I cant get a deep enough breath in at times. This is what my US report said
"a 2cm cystic lesion on left ovary with no discernible blood flow within the lesion, it has lacelike internal echoes and irregular peripheral margins. This likely is seconday to internal henorrhage". It goes on to say that "this lesion is most likely a hemorrhagic cyst" and that I should have another us done in about 2-3 months to follow up and check for resolution of this cyst.
What do you all think? I AM SCARED TO DEATH! I hope this isnt cancer! I am 41 years old. No children, no familial history of cancer, was on birth control for about 15 years. Just quit smokng by the way!
It is unusual for 2cm cyst to cause shortness of breath. But, who is to know if your cyst is pressing on an area that would result in this symptom. When you hear of cysts that cause fluid and shortness of breath is usually because it is an advanced case of ovarian cancer and the pressure and subesquent symptoms have put pressure on the lungs.
That said, we are all individuals, and every symptom can be the result of the interactions that are caused by the cyst. So, if you have a particular syptom, it doesn't really matter if you get validation from someone else....it is real for you!!!
Our hormones greatly affect who we are and how we function. I have seen so many posts of different experiences, but, I believe they are equally valid. You have to know that if something is different for you in the presence of a cyst or post-surgery..it it likely related! Just know you have to take it day by day and not be hard on yourself!
Please talk to your doctor abour your symptoms. You will want to rule out that your shortness of breath is because of an underlying condiion. But, stress and the unknown can definitely give you this symptom! Best of luck in finding answers!
