Sorry to hear about your mom and aunt. If your mom's death was from ovarian cancer, then it is possible that you are at increased risk. BRCA gene testing would show if you are. The CA125 blood test is not accurate at diagnosing ovarian cancer. Other things can cause an elevated test result. A friend of mine's CA125 was over 1000 (normal range is less than 35). She had a complex cyst but it was benign (non-cancerous).
If you do not have a predisposition for ovarian cancer, then your lifetime risk is less than 2%. Most ovarian cysts do not require intervention as they usually resolve on their own. However, complex ones do need to be monitored and surgically removed if they look suspicious or get too large.
I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I recently lost my Dad to cancer too.
Because the size seems to be small, I would assume the docs think it's a "functioning cyst" that will pass on it's own, soon.
I have a 8 cm x 5 cm complex cyst that will be getting removed, along with my ovary, next week. This all came about just last week. My doc had me do a AC125 test immediately. I guess that helps determine if there's cancer in your body. I don't have my results yet.
My pain isn't that bad... but from what I read, everyone experiences the level of pain differently, and it's not always correlated to the size.
Hi. Yes i did. That was from my 2nd doctor. Don't know if i'll seek another opinion from another doctor or wait for 2 months and just drank some pain killers. Is it normal that my rigjt leg will hurt too becaise the cyst found is on my right ovary?
Thanks for replyin =)
i dont know about cancer, hope you don't have one.
Did you go to another doctor just for confirmation. Personally, when i have something suspicious, I always go to a second doctor and don't tell him that i have gone to another. then you can have a clear idea.
