Ovarian cysts

I went to the doctors for sharp pains in my lower abdomen, frequent bathroom visits, and for the pain of going to the bathroom. I had two ultrasounds done and they found a 3cm non cystic solid mass in my left ovary. They told me to see my obgyn as soon as possible. I just went to the Obgyn and they wanted to do another ultrasound. They couldn't find the solid mass in my ovary, instead they found a normal cyst and it has gone done to 3/4 of an inch. I wasn't diagnosed with anything and they want to see me again in 4 months. I am confused on how a solid mass can go to a cyst in just a few weeks. Ive never had an ovarian cyst before, I have had 2 Leep procedures on my cervix for CIN 3 high grade precancer cells though. I googled my symptoms and the diagnosis was Cystic Fibromas.

Hi ,
I too had what they thought was a solid cyst back in December. When I had the laparoscopic procedure (they also told me I could wait and they would monitor every few months). However, I'm postmenopausal and cysts are not really "normal" with us. Anyway, turned out my cyst was "simple" or fluid filled. I was so confused since they use "mass,"tumor" and "cyst " interchangeably...I'm like you.... to me a cyst is always liquid.. not necessarily so with the medical jargon.
Also, they were thinking mine may also be a fibroma..To tell the truth, they really can't be absolutely sure unless and until they do a procedure ... But that probably won't be necessary with you since it has already shrunk a little.  Try not to worry, and when you go back for a follow up, it will more than likely be gone !! They just usually disappear on their own.  Check out the Health Pages on the top right of this page and you will see a LOT of information about Cysts..
Try not to worry and keep us posted,

Sandy

Ovarian cysts are very common and you probably have had some without even knowing it. Almost all women get them with their cycle, but they usually go down on their own.  We don't know a lot about cysts on this forum, because most of the women here never had cysts before they had cancer.  However, you will most likely find women who can help you, women who have been in your situation in the Ovarian Cyst forum.  If you scoll down to the right side of this page you will see Related Communities (underneath Community Members) and the Ovarian Cyst link is there.  Those women are very experienced with ovarian cysts and I am sure they will be able to answer your questions.
