Surgery appointment set for Laporoscopy

I finally had my appointment with a Gyn/Onc yesterday concerning my Ovarian Cyst.  I've been waiting for a grueling, long 5 weeks.  I was so much more impressed with this doctor's knowledge about this topic than I had been with the Gyn I had seen prior.  I have a 5+ cm simple cyst, however, since I'm Postmenopausal, am 65, and have not had children I felt I was at greater risk for potential problems, and he agreed with me.  He recommended that we do a Laporoscopy to remove the cyst, as well as the ovary and the fallopian tube.  Assuming that all else looks OK that would be the full extent of the procedure.  If he finds any cancerous substances then he would do a full hysterectomy, which I understand is the normal process.  I'm not thrilled to be going through this, but am so relieved to know what is going to happen and actually have a date set for the surgery - March 26th, so I can get it behind me and over with.

I want to thank those of you that responded to my initial posts - and for the wealth of information that I have gathered from reading all these posts.  I've got a little library that I've assembled with all this information, including the "10 things you must do after your laporoscopy" - and have a "to-buy" list of the things that I will need for my recovery time.  I'm allowing myself 2 weeks off work and then half-days for the next week or two so I can properly mend.  I live alone so am trying to set my home up in order to be able to move around comfortably and take care of myself as best I can.  My family is all out of state, so will be relying somewhat for occasional assistance from friends and neighbors as they have time.   It's all kind of scary, but I plan to spend time daily on this site to get the mental stimulus that all of you offer so generously.

Thanks to all and my best wishes to those of you that are still going through this, or recuperating from it.  Hugs.

Luba
