Update on my Surgery

Hi Everyone,
I had my surgery yesterday and they were able to do it by laparoscopy.  I haven't spoken to my dr. since the surgery although he did speak briefly to my husband afterwards.  But you know men don't always get all the necessary info.  I have a call in to my doctor but from what I can tell, It was the size of a softball by the time they got it.  He said they were able to get it all without taking any of my ovary which is good news....but he did mention something to my husband about endometriosis and some scraping and then my recovery nurse said something about him scraping out my uterus.  I am feeling some better today but it's still pretty painful.  the incisions are not that painful, it's the insides.  I seem to have a lot of pain on my right side, but the cyst was on my left ovary.  Could this be from the scaping they talked about?  I haven't had too much trouble with the gas as I was up and moving around pretty quickly and got my bowels moving by last night so that doesn't seem to be a problem.  Although my throat is starting to hurt a bit today which they said it might.  So all in all it went pretty well I guess I just wish I understood this right-sided pain and the endometriosis comment.  Has anyone had similiar experience?
Thanks for all your continued support everyone...this forum has been such a help to me over the past few months.

I'm so glad everything went well! Yay! I hope you start feeling  better soon :) Get lots of rest! Endometriosis can come back, but hopefully that won't be your case. Let's think positive!

Thanks ladies.  I actually did call my doctor's office today and his nurse got a hold of him and then called me back.  He said that the cyst was an endometrioma the size of a softball.  He was able to get it all off the ovary but that he didn't find anything else he wasn't expecting to find and that everything looked great.  So I don't know what all that scraping comments were, unless they scrape out the lining of your uterus as a precaution but he didn't mention it.  I go back to see if for my post op end February so I guess I will find out anything else then.  So I guess that is good news.  My only concern is that if it was an endometrioma.....can that grow back??

You had major surgery on your innerds, so yes, it's going to be sore.  Those little incisions on the outside are deceiving.  I hate it when Dr's don't talk to us when we're coherent and ready to listen and ask questions or they talk to family who can't really relate what was said.  Maybe you could call your Dr's office and ask about what happened since you were out of it at the time.

Glad you are feeling ok.  REST and try not to do too much.  You will be sore for a while.  Until you talk to your Dr it's hard to say where the pain may be coming from.  Endo can be inside the uterus and outside, causing lots of dicomfort.  I have Endo on the outside and caused me almost constant discomfort.
I hope you feel better soon.
