Merina Coil

Does anyone out there know anything about the success of the Merina Coil in treating Endometriosis?  I feel I was talked into having one fitted during my laparoscopy and not at all convinced I've done the right thing.  Plus, from what I've read, this will not be the only way of resolving the Endo and it seems that surgery is inevitable. I feel as though they are just fobbing me off in the meantime and ticking boxes for other treatments before they resort to the surgery, which leaves me in limbo.

thanks very much for your response.  I went to the docs yesterday and she has clarified a few things for me, which makes me feel better psychogically.  I think the lack of communication and information has just made things worse but she did help me understand a little more.  I now know Endo is different than ovrian cysts, but apparently they are "chocolate" cysts, made up of old blood and can act in the same way as a typical cyst in twisting or bleeding, which must be what happened when I was rushed into A&E in agony last month.  However, I now understand from letter by the surgeon to my docs that the Endo was so extensive that it needs shrinkage before they can do anything else. So, it sounds like waiting game.  My current symptoms haven't been relieved but at least I know a little more!  She recommended the coil should stay in place as it can be very effective n shrinking the Endo.  I will wait and see - if I start to get unmanageable symptoms I want it gone!  I've never been a fan of them and it seems that's a pretty widespread view.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  Will post relevant stuff on other threads as well.

Endo is a different problem than ovarian cysts. You may want to ask this on the endo forum. I have seen several stories with women having extreme problems with IUDs. I personally dislike them and wouldn't want one forced on me, if that is what your doctor has done. Maybe it is time to find a better doctor. I know someone that recently had endo surgery and, yes, that often is the treatment...but it can come back, too.
