Ruptured Ovarian Cysts and Swollen Lymph Nodes

I am an active 23 year old woman and former college athlete. About 3 years ago I was extremely sick for about 3 days (vomiting bile, weak, dizzy) and finally went to the ER where they diagnosed me with a ruptured ovarian cyst. After the diagnosis...nothing...A month ago I went to the doctor with swollen lymph nodes in my neck and vomiting bile. They sent me to my OBGYN who put me on two strong antibiotics for an infection caused by another ruptured cyst. I will be having an ultrasound in a month to diagnose further but I have been having the same pain today! Last night was pain in my lower back and sides and this morning it is vomiting bile and the lymph node is still swollen! I am worried about cancer with the frequency of the cysts and swollen lymph nodes. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? What was your diagnosis?

I had a CT scan last week that showed fluid around my ovaries and we are doing an ultrasound this Tuesday.

Since my prior post I have been having additional problems with vomiting bile and also broke out in a rash that spread over about 50% of my body. Hopefully they can determine a cause soon. Not knowing is the worst feeling.

Hello,

Sorry replied to another question earlier.

Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Other causes include allergic reactions, arthritis, cancer, metabolic diseases, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). In your case infection caused by the ruptured ovarian cyst effecting the peritoneum and other abdominal causes need to be ruled out. You need a comprehensive profile of investigations including an ultrasound and CT scan abdomen done.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello,
Not all ovarian cysts in post menopausal women are considered malignant and they need not be managed surgically. To determine whether it is malignant or not get CA 125 and a transvaginal ultrasound done. Transvaginal ultrasound is more sensitive than transabdominal ultrasound. Given your history of ovarian cancer these tests need to be done.
