Scared to death

Hi.
I am a 49 perimenapausal women who has a 4.8 complex cyst on her left ovary. I was suffering some discomfort on my right side for about two months before i want to my gyno. she sent me for an ultrasound and they found a 2cm complex cyst on my right ovary. the test said they could not see my left ovary due to excess gas. dr sent me for mri with contrast 2 weeks ago. this time they saw nothing on my right side but 4.8 cm complex cyst on my left side. my ca 125 was normal and i have also had a normal brca gene test a few months earlier. my dr schedule surgery for dec. 28th. he said he isnt too worried, but i am paralyzed with fear. we discussed and decided to have both ovaries removed since i do not want to go through this again and my age. he plans on doing it laproscopically. he also said pathology will be there and if suspected to be cancerous he will do full hysterectomy.

i am making myself sick and am trying to act fine in front of my kids. i think i will have a nervous breakdown before the surgery.

Oh, he was a much needed comfort for me. I went to see the top Dr. in NJ (12 year award winner) and he spent 45 min. with me going over all my test results, films, and did another ultra sound. He told me he is not worried at all, that if i were  his patient he'd make me wait 3 months ad get another MRI. He showed me the cysts and explained what things are not ther that would send an alert...etc etc...He also told me there is absolutely no reason not to have the surgery if it will make me sleep at night. If that is what i need to do, then i should do it. he in convinced that  ther is nothing to worry about. He said in 48 years he is a pretty good judge :) but of course no one can be 100% until they go in.

I wish i had gone to him first! He does not unfortunately take my insurance so, i will go with dr. #1

I do fee so much better and can now enjoy my holiday. I do not understand why the first dr. could not do more to ease my stress. His comment was " im not too worried"

Thank you for checking on me...and ill be back after the 28th to let you know how it went.

Have a great holiday

Hi. I am so sorry to hear you are going through this! I recently had a complex cyst removed. I think you should take some comfort in that your blood tests yielded normal results. I wish you all the best with your surgery and recovery!!
