What does this ultra sound report mean?

The uterus is retroverted and measures 87 x 60 x 51mm.  The endometrium is 4mm.  The myometrium is inhomgeneous.  There appear to be several submucosal fibroids.  One in the posterior wall in the fundus measuring 9mm and one in the anterior wall in mid body measuring 14mm and several other smaller ones.

The right ovary of 6.3 cc has several meium sized follicles, the largest measuring 12mm.  The left ovary of 9.2 cc has a collapsing cyst measuring 12 mm as well as smaller follicles.  There is some calcificatons within the ovary, they may be from an old hemorrahagic cyst.

29yrs old, period for the last 4 months (minus about 3 weeks spread over the months), heavy periods and horrible cramps.  Have had 2 cysts in the past largest one measuring 7cm.  All women in my family have had hysterectomies because of fibroids and endometriosis.

Your scan report sounds good in the sense that all findings are very small.  It will likely be a watch and wait situation.  Your cysts will likely go away on their own in time.  I agree with the above post in that I think it sounds like you may have endometriosis based on your family history and symptoms.  Usually, your gyn will prescribe something to help stop your period.  Often, going on the birth control pill for a period of time can help regulate your cycle.   Hopefully, that will be effective in helping you get some relief.

A retroverted uterus means the uterus is tilted backwards. I have that and I have been told that its common and its fine. Most reasons for an retroverted uterus is because of PID and endometriosis. \

I would say that your odds of having endo are extremely high considering your family history.

I am not sure if a hysterectomy is the right way to go if you do consider it as I have heard of some many women that said the hyster did nothing for them.
