2 enlarged ovaries 3cm-4cm cysts

Hi,
I had been missing my periods since i was 16 yrs old, sometimes i would skip a month i was not sexually active at that time so i contributed it to stress or excessive sports. Later on in my twenties I started missing my periods for months at a time 4 maybe 5 months straight I would have no period..in college i blacked out and went to the doctor and told her my symptoms and after blood work found out i had thyroid disease..I then contributed the missed periods to thyroid disease as my hormones werent working properly.. This fall I was missing my periods very frequently I was having some stomach aching and was convinced I was pregnant..I wasnt..my heart was broken as my husband and I are trying to have a baby. I went to the Gyno and she had me do a trans- vag ultrasound..i knew something was up when the ultrasound tech turned the screen away from my view and wouldnt give me answers. I got the call and visited the Gyno and she told me I have 2 enlarged ovaries filled with 3 and 4 cm in diameter cysts she said free fluids and all that was fine i was tested for cancer markers and came up negative. She referred me to a surgeon and told me it was very expensive as I have no insurance. I want to have children soooooooo bad and i know this sounds strange but I feel weird about the surgery..I only want to have it as a last resort. I am 28 yrs old and worried to death that I can not have kids..I know plenty of women with cysts have children..MY gyno said I DID NOT HAVE poly cystic ovarian syndrome...its very frustrating .. Does anyone else have similar cysts like me? Did anyone else have children? Thanks for listening

You need to have a very honest conversation with your surgeon so that he can do all he can to preserve your ovaries.  Alternatively, you might want to freeze some of your eggs.  It is quite possible that you won't be able to get pregnant until the cysts are removed.  Some types of cysts can stop ovulation.   You need to understand more about this.  Good luck to you.  Please keep us posted.

I had a lot of issues with my periods and frequently got cysts on my ovaries.  I was never told that they were in my ovaries though.  I just wanted to let you know that my issues with the cysts did not stop me from having children, I have 4 boys and actually having my youngest son cleared up my issues with cysts for almost 12 years.
That being said, again my cysts were not IN my ovaries but ON them so I am not sure what the dangers may be in leaving them.  Are they sending you for another ultrasound to see if they change?
