complex cyst with septation v little normal ovarian tissue

hi i have no previous history of ovarian cysts and on a previous scan approx 2 years ago showed normal healthy ovarie.
i have had years of ongoing bladder and pelvic pain and ongoing sterile pyria.i have adhesions and am in reguklar pain particularly at menstruation. have regular periods, lots bloating was diagnosed ibs approx 10 years. had many tests/treatment inc laparoscopy. am 40 years old.
last week ultrasound revealed complex ovarian cyst with single septation and just small piec of normal ovarian tissue remaining. cyst measured 5cm x 6cm no free fluid or other mass normal echo. it is on my left ovary and i have started having nagging pain in small of back kidney area and far left side of abdomen. i am awaiting appt with gnae. hating the wait! will i be likely to face surgery? meaning more adhesions! and could it be cancer? worried about the septation!

It makes me so angry when some doctors want to believe that cysts cannot cause the issues you are mentioning.  One visit to this forum would definitely educate them that they do indeed cause pain and bladder symptoms.  Do call and ask for the results of your blood tests and insist on another scan before surgery.  Good luck with everything.

HI HAD FOLLOW UP WITH GYN YESTERDAY AM SCHEDUALED FOR LAPAROSCOPY WITHIN NEXT 4 WEEKS TO REMOVE CYST AND EXPLORATORY. HAD TO  GIVE BLOOD SAMPLE BUT WASN'T TOLD WHAT THE SAMPLE WAS FOR [GUESSING THE CANCER MARKER ONE?] BUT I WAS NOT GIVEN A 2ND SCAN?! WHICH I FOUND STRANGE?! LAST SCAN WAS 3-4 MONTHS AGO! HE ALSO INFORMED ME MY PAIN AND BLADDER SYPTOMS WERE NOTHING TO DO WITH MY SEPTATED CYST ?!
ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE?!

Your profile does not indicate where you live or how old you are (please complete this) which can make a big difference in risk and your healthcare availability.  I am in Canada and I know it can take a while to get into specialists.  Your GP will send the referral and file to the gyn and may indicate a rush if he is concerned.  In my case it took the gyn two weeks before he reviewed the file and then called to make an appointment.  Mine was a rush but not an emergency.  I've since had surgery, all was benign, and I feel great.  Do keep in touch with your GP.  If he is concerned he can help to accelerate the referral process.

Hi,
When is your appointment? I know the waiting is awful, but try not to worry.. Let's not jump the gun regarding cancer. Let's take one step at a time . The pain sounds like what I had with my cyst and mine was smaller than yours.. so, cysts can certainly cause pain..
Please let us know what the Dr. said and try not to worry. Don't forget that cysts are 95% benign..

Take care,
Sandy
