I am sorry that this is turning into a bigger procedure that even I predicted.  This is close to the type of surgery I had, but I had a vertical incision.  No matter how much they end up removing, the recovery will be about the same (6-8 weeks).  You can read my story in the "about me" section of my profile.  I do hope this all turns out benign as the majority of these cases prove to be.  Please let us know how you are doing. You'll be in my prayers for a happy outcome.

What type of doctor is doing the surgery?  If they even slightly suspect cancer, it should be a gynecologist/oncologist because that type of doctor will accomplish the best results in one surgery than many other specialists are able to do.  A gyn/onc does plenty of benign surgeries, too.  My own gyn/onc is the most impressive person I may have ever met.

I checked your dermoid thread as well to see the test results.

Yes, I cannot see any responsible doctor recommending anything other than surgery to remove it.  That is not a cyst that can remedy itself, so it will remain, and possibly get larger over time.  It is pressing on the bladder, so that alone should make you want surgery as it will cause you to have a false urgency to urinate. It should also be removed so they can test it thoroughly.  It may still be a candidate for the less invasive surgery (laparoscopy).
