Benign cystic mesothelioma in pelvis

Hi

I just had oophrectomy surgery 2 weeks ago.  During the surgery the doctor found a cyst that was full of 'gelatinous material'.  The pathology report came back with this being a 'benign cystic mesothelioma'.  It is apparently very very rare and there is a high incidence of recurrence (which means more surgery in the future).  The articles I have found about it range from it being totally benign, nothing to worry about all the way to some cases where the cyst keeps returning and becomes malignant.

Has anyone else received a diagnosis like this?  I'm just trying to find other folks in the same situation I am in (it's a little lonely with something this rare and so little info on it).

thanks!!
Vicki

Hello Vicky,
I'm from Holland and a few months ago i heard the diagnosis cystic mesothelioma.
In Holland i'm the only one with this disease and i also can't find a lot of information about this disease.
I have to go to surgery and after that a chemotherapie HYPEC.
Do you know anything about this?
How are you at the moment? I see that is has been 3 years ago that you have posted this.
Hope to hear from you!

Greetings from Holland,
Elske

i have not received a mesothelioma diagnosis either but i was concerned about it when i was diagnosed with ovca 1c... when i was a marine i was exposed to asbestos for a total of about three years during a removal project ... please stay on top of this as the recurrence could be deadly :( Mesothelioma often strikes the lungs of the exposed and their family as well (the dust attaches to hubbys coat for instance and the wife goes to kiss him now she just breathed in the deadly dust) but it also occurs in the pelvic organs (its second favorite hot spot)

having said all this i wish u well ... i pray u can continue to stay on top of this and keep us posted if theres a change

okay to make u smile ... i kid with my gyn oncologist that hes one of the few and the pround gyno's that get to operate on marines heheheh

Sorry, I can't relate to the cyst part, only the oophrectomy surgery part, if that helps at all....but I am sure that someone here will be able to relate, or share experiences, at least point you in the right direction.
Good luck, and remember, we are here for each other, no matter what the diagnosis.
