I'm sorry that your so young and having all these problems. It must be hard to deal with when it's interfering with you daily life and activities, but it can be controlled with BC pills as a way to stop you from ovulating and producing follicles each month. There are also medications that can be used to try to help shrink existing cysts you may have. As far as the pain, have you tried ibuprofen or naproxen, it may help as long as your not allergic or sensitive to it.  Are you using a Gyn or a regular general doctor? If you can see a specialist you may have better luck at finding a way to control your cysts and to see if you have a condition known as Poly Cyst Ovary syndrome. It's very common for young women to develop cysts but as far as growing out of it that's something I would ask for more specific information about how and why he came to this conclusion. Take a look at the cyst information on the top right side of the Cyst page forum in the Heath pages. I hope you can find a doctor who will take your concerns more seriously and give you a better quality of life. Let us know how your doing?

I'm sorry you're having to go through this , especially at such a young age. You might like to check out the "Health Pages" at the top right of this page. It has a lot of information about cysts.

Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any way to prevent their occurence aside from a prescription for birth control pills. The reason they work in a lot of instances is that they actually suppress ovulation. No ovulation, no cysts. You might ask your Dr. about this..

When do you see your Dr. next?

Hope you feel better soon,
Sandy
