hi johanna its a hard discion to make and i am sure it must be stressing you out ,i dident have a choice my ovary had died and it couldent be saved so it was taken out of my hands and i was unaware of this i taught it was appendix so it was done and i dont thing i would like to be faced with the discision hand it up to god and accept what ever he plans for you best of luck x
Hi Johanne, I think that you are making a very wise decision. It is very possible that they cyst will come back, but maybe it won't be for a few years. Then you can decided to take the rest of the ovary out. I'm sorry you have to have surgery again, but it really is the only way to get rid of your cyst. Do you know when your surgery will be? We will be here for you when you need us!! Keep us posted!
PS, We all make mistakes LOL I knew a woman who did have a 10in ovarian cyst!! Her cyst was the size of a football!!
hello,
i made a mistake my cyst is about 10 cm and not 10 inches sorry for the mistake.so i went today to the dr and told me that i have to do the laparoscopy again because there is no other way to take it out. He gave me two options : either i take out the whole cyst, and take out the little part of the ovary where was the cyst, or take out the cyst and the ivary together. He basically told me that the cyst might come back after if i dont take out the ovary. As he clearly mentioned, the ovary has little cysts inside but he does not know which part of the ovary wproduces the mucinou cyst.
My future decision will be to take out only the cyst and part of the ovary, dont want to take out the ovary because nobody knows for sure the answer, only god knows...
and if my cyst comes back again then i will have to take out the ovary again for sure .
what do u guys think about my decision?
PLEASE NEED FEEDABACKKK
Hi and welcome to the forum. I know how upsetting this can be, and especially at such a young age. Sometimes cysts just come back quickly. If you do lose an ovary, there is a GREAT chance that you can still have children. When an ovary is taken out, the other ovary resumes the function of both ovaries. It may take a few cycles after surgery for you period to get regular, but it will happen. When you lose 1 ovary, the other ovary will release 2 eggs each month instead of alternating with the other ovary (that's what happens when you have 2 ovaries). A 10 inch cyst is very big and I am so surprised that they doctor wants to wait to take it out (maybe they said 10cm?). If it is that large, then it needs to come out and as soon as possible. At that size, it is so big that it can push and put pressure on your other organs. It can also cause the ovary and fallopian tube to twist. That would result in an emergency surgery and you will definitely lose the ovary. I will be very surprised if the pill will help reduce a cyst of that size. I just want you to know that we are a forum of awesome women who will support you and give you advice in any way we can. Please keep us updated on how you are doing!
