new thread....8.7cm ovarian cyst

have always struggled with horrible cycles causing anemia and lots of pain. I had my first child at age 18 and my first laproscopy at age 20 with the removal of three ovarian cysts one on the fallopian tube and the other two on the left ovary. I had my second child this year in feb and in april had a sono due to pelvic pain which revealed a simple cyst on the right and a bilateral simple cyst on the left. I then had the IUD put in because I had decided I did not want any more children. I began to feel nauseaus and have a lot of bowel issues and urination issues so I 5 months went by and I had decided to remove the IUD because I thought it was the cause when the doc did my exam she found a cyst and sent me for sono again. In five months the cyst has grown from 2.2cm to 8.7cm in the right ovary, which I am told is the size of an orange. The sonogram says right bilobed septated ovarian cyst. I am wondering if you can tell me what this means and severity of this type of cyst????

My GYN ONC has scheduled a laproscopy (robot surgery) in November to remove the entire right ovary to avoid a reoccurence due to my family history. Great Grandma on maternal side died of ovarian cancer and aunt on maternal side survived breast cancer. and other aunt with endometriosis and several other issues.

When I google bilobed septated cyst I learn that bilobed is having two lobes and septate is fluid/solid filled. I am just wondering if there are other things I need to look into or just to go along with what my doc has set up?

I don't know if they are fluid filled. It just says it is a bilobed septated cyst. Everything I read says septated is with solid and fluid.

It sounds like you are in good hands!  I'm so sorry to hear of your cyst issues!  I struggled for much of my life with cysts and it is no fun.  I have heard great things about the robotic surgery.  Since you are seeing a gyn/onc, I think all your bases are covered.  Since your cysts are simple, they are likely filled with blood.  This can happen from hormonal changes or endometriosis.  It is a positive sign that they are fluid filled.  Hang in there and let us know how it goes with your surgery!
