cyst

i am done with the surgery for ovarian cyst but now am having very severe burning feeling in bladder, can any one help me through this that why is this happening is this due to the catheter placed during surgery. i'd be very thankful

Correction:  I had called the number on my discharge papers, so I had called the hospital--not my doctor.

I agree that it could be infection and you might want to be seen.

Also wanted to add though, I had a catheter Friday and had the same feeling through most of the day on Saturday and then went away.  I hadn't done anything other than drink water.  When I called my doctor, he said it can be normal for about 24 hours after the catheter is removed.

You could have developed a bladder infection from the catheter. A simple urine test will determine if this is the case. Many doctors' offices don't require an appointment for this, just call and ask.

A round of antibiotics usually takes care of it, but it won't hurt to go in and get checked out, since you have a history of pelvic problems.

In the meantime, drink lots of water and cranberry juice, and try tylenol if you're allowed to take it.
