sudden severe onset of joint pain

I'm February 2015 I had to restart Humira injections after not being on them for almost a year. I was also put on 40mg/day of prednisone. March 6, I woke up to excruciating pain in legs from the hips down. I tried to take a step and it felt like I was walking on broken bones through molasses. I made it to my bathroom but then no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get up off the toilet. There was the numbness and tingling like when your legs are asleep, but then my legs also felt extremely heavy with severe Charlie horses. We called the doctor and they had me take 40mg of prednisone and benadryl. I fell asleep and the pain subsided slightly but when I woke up I was so stiff I couldn't get out of bed or walk. The pain came back later that day, so I went to the ER and they gave me pain meds and also two more steroid shots. The stiffness never really went away, but the pain got a bit better after a few days of being on oxycontin xr. I took another Humira shot and it happened again, so they gave more steroids and upped the oxycontin slightly. It happened a week later and was the worst by far because the pain was now in all of my joints, and it wouldn't subside even when I was resting. I was finally admitted to the hoaoital after the third time. I was told it was avascular necrosis after they did MRIs on my lower joints as well as bone infarctions. In that time I had also gained 68lbs from not being active for a month, developed diabetes, high blood pressure, tachycardia, vision problems, diastolic dysfunction, and excessive sweating. At the time I was not a good candidate for total joint replacement, so I was referred to a pain clinic. I was out on fentanyl and oxycodone after trying multiple other combinations. Even those barely take the edge off the pain in my joints, so I am wondering if they are missing something. Recently they added a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, but I can't help but  feel like they are missing something, especially since I have started waking up in excruciating pain like I did when it first happened. So has anybody else suffered from sudden episodes of extreme joint pain that wssnt relieved by pain medicine and didn't go away despite rest or postion.

It sounds like it's the Humira that's causing the problems. You said the pain was not there when you weren't taking it and then it started when you started taking your shots again. Have they tried taking you off of it to see if your pain goes away? Even though you were on this med before and did fine you can go back on a med and have side effects. Or, side effects can show up at any time with any med. The weight gain is from the steroid, not from being inactive. My sister has to take a steroid sometimes and when she does she can put on a great deal of weight in no time.
Humira comes with a long list of possible side effects. I really think this is what your Dr should be looking in to.
