Hello Gemma and welcome to the Pain Forum.
I am sorry that it has taken me so long to get to your post. I apologize. I am really sorry that your Fiance' is going through this. I have never heard of this type of pain and think a specialist is a good idea. I hope he is able to see a Neurologist because of his symptoms. Most of them relate to this field. The scary part is the memory loss. It makes me believe that there is something going on in the brain.
I really am at a loss for advise because of his condition. I hope that he is able to see a specialist soon. The longer you wait, the more damage you do. I hope that you find answers to this mystery. Please take care and keep us posted. I am really going to be curious as to the outcome of this story. It could also help others in the future should this type of question ever arise again.
Best regards,
Mollyrae
epileptics have this kind of memory loss and terrible loss of energy after a seizure(I am one of them). Mollyrae is right, a Neurologist is who your fiance needs to see.
my seizures always happened so quickly i couldn't see it coming(and it always took 6-48hrs for me to remember or peice together the event, the tiredness was indescribable). there are different kinds of epilepsy tho(and no doubt other neurological problems with similar actions/symptoms).I'm not actually saying it's epilepsy but definately a neurological problem.
Good luck finding the right answers

Hello Gemma,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I have been off line for several days and I too apologize for being so tardy with my response.
The temperature puts a new twist on your fiancee's symptoms. Seven years is a long time to have undiagnosed pain, too long. I would imagine that a spinal tap has already bee performed along with an MRI of the spine. If not I would highly recommend that you request that both procedures be preformed asap. If it weren't for his fever I would wonder if he had fibromyalgia or a similar condition. But I certainly an not an expert.
The suggestion that I can give you with confidence is not to give up. Do not take, "I don't know" for an answer. Keep seeking out new physicians (neurology is a good place to begin) until you locate one that can give you answers. Sometimes a new set of eyes and some thinking out of the box will solve these medical mysteries. It took me many years to find someone that could give me a diagnosis to my painful condition, so I speak from experience. I gave up for awhile, the worst thing I could have done. Now I am left with a condition that is untreatable, don't let that happen to your fiancee.
Please let us know how he is doing. He is very lucky to have someone that is concerned and involved as you are. Good luck to you. We will be interested in hearing from you again.
Peace, Tuck
I agree that you need to get your fiance to a neurologist as soon as you can get in with one. Call around to try and get in asap. I agree this has gone on much too long--pain wears you down terribly and affects everything about your life.
I have had MS for 36 years and recognize that his symptoms *could* be along these lines--except maybe the temperature. That's not to say they are, but it's a place to start.
Good luck--please get right on this and check back in to let the Pain Forum know. Cheers! Jane
