Triggers for flare-ups

With so many people experiencing such bad flare-ups lately, I'm just curious to what people's triggers are.  Mine are definitely the cold and over use.  This year I've found air conditioning is bothering me.  Luckily I don't care for it and luckily, the house has two different zones so I can have it on in one part of the house and not another.  No matter how hot and humid it gets, I'd still rather that than the bone-chilling cold of winter.

I know overusing my hand, obviously, triggers flare-ups.  But once in a while, I just can't figure out what brought it on.

Wishing everyone's flare-ups to go away and go back to, at least, your normal level that you can tolerate.

For me, one trigger is temperatures of any extreme - hot or cold.  it used to be mainly the cold that made it worse, but I'm now finding (in the past couple of years) that either extreme affects me. Of course, humidity always make it worse.

A couple of other BIG triggers for me are trying to do too much - I may not feel it immediately, but believe me, I pay for it in pain for several days or even weeks afterward.  Also, not sleeping well is a big one for me.  Of course, that one is a vicious cycle - you can't sleep because you're hurting and you hurt more because you're not sleeping.  That one I really don't know how to avoid/overcome.

I'm like many of the people here on this forum and have been having an EXTREMELY bad time with the pain recently.

I just thought it would be interesting to see what triggers other people.

Melissaky, boy do I know that deep in the bone feeling.  It's one of the worst pains I get.  My boys play hockey and I loved watching them, but I just can't go anymore.  Most of the rinks we go to are old and don't have a warm room.  I hated missing their games, but the ice arena is definitely out for me. I find once the cold affects the pain so deep in the bones that it's hard to get rid of it.

Stress sets me off as well, though not as much as for other  people.  Humidity does not bother me but when the weather changes that can set me off and when it's really cold I find it hard to get out of a flare-up.  Last January I got to go to Mexico and it was such a relief to get out of the cold for a week.

Hi Mellie .I know stress is a big trigger for me .It is probably the worst  one  .Also here lately I have been having a flare up and I think it has been cause by the weather here .I have to have my ac tho .I can't bear the heat anymore .I used to get out and work in my yard all day but ,sadly that is no longer possible .I go out and about 15 minutes later I am sick . And in the winter I can feel it deep down in my bones..I think there is probably a myriad of things that put my pain in overdrive but these seem to be the ones that I notice the most .

Take care
Melissa

I think it's also the way my chronic pain is. I have days and weeks when I'm really bad. Lately, the pain has been close to unbearable, and I can't figure out what's causing it. I'd be calling my doctor if it were any worse.

I have noticed the more humid the day, the more arachnoid pain I have. Maybe it's because my nerves are already clumped together and the humidity makes them even stickier..LOL (tounge in cheek)

Hi Mellie:

Humidity and our Air Conditioners can definitly create havoc in our systems. I have noticed that I am in much more pain in the morning after I have had the Air on all night long.  Also, we are more active in the Summer which can lead to added pain.

So, I guess it can be a combination of things.
Take care,
Mollyrae
