Yes they often don't complain until it is getting to the point of unbearable.
Thanks for the update. And again good luck!
OK, now I find out that it actually started about a month ago, but he only started telling me about it a week ago, because that's when it started getting worse. Just wanted to let you all know that.
Thank you both so much for the advice! I'm going to talk to him as soon as he gets out of the shower. He is in there right now saying "my hip is hurting so bad" :(
Thanks Again and I'll keep you posted
Ahhh! Humor this morning:)
Yes this is definatly the ticket to the doctor Eve.
Thanks Sandee.
And Eve, you gotta hit him where it hurts the most...his golf game!
Oh I had completly missed that point Tuck. Of course use his golf as a way to get him to go. I KNOW he would never want to risk his golf game and you could even point out that with treatment of his pain his game is bound to be much better! My son golfs so I know how important their swing and game is to them. Execellent observation Tuck:)
Hello Eve,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry that your husband is experiencing hip pain. It's so stressful when our husbands are hurting or ill and refuse to seek medical care. I too have one just like that.
The hip contains the largest bursae in the human body. When it becomes inflamed the pain can be excruciating. I'm wondering if he has hip bursitis. If he does, often a simply (not painful) injection of a steroid into the hip can clear it up like magic. The hip can have so many different conditions that only a physician can determine the source of his pain. It could just be wearing out and he may need a hip replacement.
Good luck trying to get him to see a physician. I have tried everything with my husband and nothing works. When his Mom was still living I just called her and she always got him to go. I am still after him but I know my efforts are fruitless.
Bless your heart Sandee I am glad your approach has worked. I've tried it and it doesn't move my husband. So Eve keep at him and keep trying. Hopefully if his pain gets bad enough he'll go on his own. The longer he waits the more damage he may be doing that may be irreversible. ....and his golfing days may be numbered! That fact may prompt him to seek treatment.
Best of luck to you.
Tuck
Hi Eve,
Your husband could very well have an injury or even arthritis. He could also be having pain from repetitive moves such as using his hip when he swings the club and it has progressively gotten worse.
He really needs to see a doctor because there are a number of things that could be wrong. He could have an infection in his hip that is causeing the pain and this needs to be treated soon.
I understand how hard it is to get him to the doctor because my husband is the same exact way! He almost died from a heat stroke because he would not go to the doctor and I had to call the ambulance.
I suggest that you explain to him he could very well have a life threatening condition that needs attention right away. tell him if not for himself to go for you because it has you worried and stressed and you do not even want to think about life without him so please just see the doctor and lets see whats going on.
I must admit I have used this on my honey before and it worked just recently.
After the heat stroke 10 years ago he knows how much I worry so he went for me.
There really is no way to tell you what is wrong though I have given you some possibilities the infection is what is so worrisome with me.
I hope your successful in getting him to go and keep us updated on how he is doing.
