OK. I had the IFUSE SI Bone surgery 7 weeks ago. I had degenerative SI and asymmetry, subchondral cysts and several bone spurs....my SI Joint was encapsulated in some areas. I had a horse fall on me at a young age, fractured pelvis that did not heal well or in the correct position. I also have, Ehler's Danlos hypermobility and psoriatic arthritis along with Ankylosing Spondylitis. sigh.......I held off for over 20 years. PT, SI belt, SI injections....chiroprator. Chiro...bad idea with degenerative type. Slowly it got worse year by year. No matter how great of shape I was in it was inevitible. There used to be limited options for SI surgery...the big screw deal. NOPE....I was told to wait..I would be in a lot of pain but eventually it would heal. My CT scans slowly would look worse. I had 3 done in the past 3 years reading as I stated above. Severe SI joint degeneration, subchondral cysts, bone spurs asymmetry of left hemipelvis at pubic symph and SI. Was annoyed with one reading that said...chronic pelvic fracture. It really is healed. Whatever. Anyhow, when I became near bed bound I was over it and turned to the SI BONE IFUSE surgery. Surgeon said because of how bad mine was...not just inflammation but degeration and asymmetry that was not "fixable" with adjustments at therapy etc. it may take me a bit longer to heal and experience pain relief. I am frustrated because I have already had a C56 ADR Prodisc c that ended up causing me severe chronic pain....NOW I am scared because I have serious pain in my tailbone, upper SI area and more pain than before when I sit upright. I can not tolerate to sit properly or for long. My sit bones...ischium, ilium HURT more??? My surgeon says it should NOT hurt. Of COURSE he would say this. He says it is not due to the surgery...shows me the film of the hardware which appears to be stacked on top of each other so close they are touching..not like other films I have ever seen. I have "unusually small" bones, so they say. I am curious if anyone else has had issues with the IFUSE like this. I know most people having the surgery are having it for inflammation of the SI joint or non trauma degeneration so maybe that is why? IDK but I though and was told by the surgeon I would be solid and pain free. I am STILL disabled. Can hardly manage to put groceries away or walk around the house. I am VERY scared that this is not going to improve and end up being like my neck surgery. Surgeons seem to abandon you when things don't come out golden. If you have a problem they act like your crazy. Irritates me because I am an RN and was a Medical Assistant for many years IN orthopedic surgery so I KNOW what happens and the attitudes behind the scenes. I hate when you have real pain and they say...."not from what I did" Ugh. Not blaming you!!! Let's just figure out why and if there is something we can do! I was working full time as an ER RN in a busy inner city hospital before my neck and SI surgery. I fell from a high distance and it sent things rapidly downhill. I would love to hear other experiences with this surgery and if I am where I should be or not. I keep hearing that you should be pain free right after and ESPECIALLY at the 7 week mark. PT was delayed due to an abscess I developed on the opposite hip from a fall into the counter corner. I posted about that as well. Anyhow, I have done all of the prescribed exercises from home so I don't get it.
