I'm terrified that I made a horrible mistake..

Hello, I've been on lortab 10/325mg 4X a day for some time due to lumbar issues. My husband got into an accident not too long ago and was prescribed percocet 10mg by his doctor. Last night, our son broke his leg and on our way out of the door, I sked my husband to grab me one of my pills because I knew we would be a the ER for a while. I took it around 10pm last night. A little later, we realized that he had given me the wrong pill. He had one of mine and one of his, and after he'd given me one, he'd still had MINE in his pocket.. which only means one thing - I took HIS. I'm terrified right now because I hve an appointment with my pain management doctor tomorrow and almost always have to submit to a UA. I've never taken percocet before in my life and I'm beating myself up over making such a stupid mistake. Yes, the pills look the same but I should have been way more cautious about it. It wasn't on my mind, just making sure my baby boy was ok was all I was thinking about. I don't know what I should do. I only took the one, but I know if I fail my UA, he will drop me as a patient and I can't have that because it took me 8 months just to find a doctor in the first place. What should I do? How long does it usually stay in your system? I've looked online but I've found answers that range from 4-6 hours to 30 days. I can't afford to lose him as my doctor. Is there a way to flush it out of my system before my UA tomorrow at 3;30pm? I would love to be able to just tell him what happened but to be blunt, he's an absolute prick! Please help!

How long have you been seeing this PM?

My thought is to be completely honest with them and bring in your bottle of meds which will show the one extra pill.

There are only two types of UA tests done..One is the quick pee and evaluate in the Dr's office that just shows the presence of opiates and no other substances...So it won't show the difference between Lortab or Percocet in that type.

Or, it gets sent out to a lab which uses gas chromatography mass spectrometry which is extremely sensitive and will show the exact amount of anything leftover of a 10mg Percocet as if you tell them the time it was taken...they can easily calculate to see that you are telling the truth as you will also have your regular Lortab that you have taken today, tonight, and tomorrow morning...

But I would be honest no matter what type test they use as most Drs. can see easily when someone is lying and when someone is telling the truth. And again, having the pill bottle to show him your one extra pill is also proof that you took the wrong one as well.

I just think you won't get kicked out for being honest and it was just a one time, simple, mistake...

Those are just my thoughts:)

Can u postpone?  i would call and tell them your son had an accident and u need to reschedule.  if he is a prick telling the truth will get u kicked out so fast.  my sisters pm is like that and to be honest- don't u think they have heard it all before and are jaded.  itmay make a difference if youve had a long relationship with him but i personally wouldnt chance it.
