Meds stolen what to do new to this

I am new to pain management. I just started 3 weeks ago. My pain dr prescribed Vicodin 5/350 every 6 hours and gralise once a day. I also take 200 mg of zoloft a day. I keep all my medicine in my purse. So this AM I went to pick my son up from his school. He was there for sports. I left my purse in the car. I swore I locked the car but when I got back my purse was gone and so was my breast pump ( just had a baby 9 weeks ago) I am calling the police to file a report but I don't know what to do about my meds. I'm scared the dr will be mad at me.

I get nervous with my meds, too.  It's become such a huge problem that CP patients we have to jump through hoops and then make sure nothing gets lost or stolen.  My pain practice isn't the best, IMO.  They only write scripts but I know I need access to other things as well, like PT, OT, procedures, etc.  I'm starting to look for a new group, but it's taking me some time.

I watched a video on YouTube once and there was a former addict and she told how she stole to get her drugs, narcotics and heroin.  She would go to the supermarket and said especially in the produce area women would just walk away from their carts for a few minutes to go pick their apples, lettuce, etc. and would leave their purse in the grocery cart.  I can't tell you how often I've done that.  Now I make sure my purse stays with me all the time.

My pain contract states they will not refill any stolen or lost medications.

It makes me very nervousness walking from the pharmacy to my car.  The pharmacy is not always discrete and will blurt out my meds. :/

I had my purse stolen last year and I filed a police report and brought a copy to my doctor.  She did refill my scripts but told me it was a one-time deal.  We have to be responsible for our meds at all times.  One of my neighbors had their house broken into.  In addition to some cash, jewelry, electronics stolen, they also had medications stolen.  Their doctor would not refill the script because they felt they were negligent because they didn't have their door locked.  You can ask your doctor about refilling them but they may say no.

Doctors don't get mad per say, they just won't believe you.  People come up with excuses all the time saying they "lost" their script or not.

Your kinda stuck here.  Why do you keep all your meds with you at all times?  You are ultimately responsible for any medication at all times.  Asking for a new script may get you kicked out of pain management and they can red flag you stating your a "drug seeker".  It's up to you if you want to chance this.

Be careful what you do.  Don't carry your meds with you all at once.  Carry only what you need.

The pain contract I have states they will not prescribe any lost or stolen medications and further action may be taken.

Good luck.  I'm sorry to hear your medicine is gone.  Whatever you do, do not go to another doc to get a new script.
