My PMP appt today

I wanted to let my friends know how my PMP appointment went today. I was there for 2 hours. They only had 2 drs and there was 9 of us sitting in the waiting room. I was called back and the lady dr came in about 10 mins later. She asked me how I was. I told her not very good, she said you really don't look very good, did you quit taking the methadone, I told her that I was trying to take it like my PMP told me to and she said that is fine but dont ever take it again. She looked at my rash on my face and arms and neck and said I was having a allergic reaction to it. She said it will take a few days for the methadone to get out of my system and just keep doing what I am doing to help the itching, there was really nothing they could do about it, it only takes time. She asked me if wanted on morphine, I told her I would like her to tell me more about it, she said wasn't you swollen when you was in the ER withdrawling from the morphine I told her yes, she asked me if we knew what caused the swelling, I told her I thought it was the gabapentin. She asked me if I knew anything about the patch, I told her I have heard a few things about it, I told her my friend at work was telling me today that she is on it and loves it she told me that when she was on pain meds they made her very tired and the patch has no side effects for her. then the dr asked me what has helped my pain in the past, I told her that percocet worked good on my pain. She said that she would put me on it and to get it filled today so I can get this pain under control, then next appt we will talk about putting me on the patch. I told her I got the methadone with me so they can take it and she had 2 nurses come in and do a pill count and then I put them in the needle container infront of them so it is wrote in my chart that I gave them to them. When we was walking out of the room my PMP was standing there waiting for us and he said "the nurse told me you wasn't feeling good but I had no clue how bad you really was, and I am so glad she wanted you to come in today to be seen" he looked at my face also and said it was a allergic reaction and to make sure I put methadone down as one of my allergies. He said my eyes and rash should get better in a few days, he said the same thing she did that only time will help them. He told me to take my new pain meds and get better and he will see me in a month.
When I went to get my script filled I made sure I told them about the methadone. And the guy asked me to spell my last name and I told him, he said that the script had my first name right but the last name was wrong. I looked at it and I couldn't even tell what it said, he tried to call the dr and they was closed. He said he knows me and trusts me so he filled it, and going to call the dr on monday to make sure they write my name more clearly. I told him next time I will check it before I even leave the office.
That was my appt today.
Thanks
Jamie

What all is your daughter allergic to? My son is allergic to everything it seems like, He is allergic to milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, almonds, fish and a few other nuts. When he has something he shouldn't have I know it right away.
My pain has calmed down some thanks to the new meds so i was able to put on cover up to cover up the rash on my face, you can still see it but not as bad as you can without the cover up. It is still itching but I will do my best to ignore it cause if I keep itching it will just make it worse.
Thanks
Jamie

I'm glad your appointment went well Jamie.  They would never start you off with the fentanyl patch unless you were opioid tolerant.  There are warnings about that on every label with this.  It would be very dangerous and his license would be on the line.  Although, they could be talking about the lidocane patch.  I've tried the lidocane patch.  The lidocane or Flector patch is pretty safe.  It doesn't stay on that well and I believe the gel works better.  My daughter has allergy reactions that tend to stick around forever.  It's very weird to see.  My daughter is allergic to many things and when ever she breaks out, it will sometimes last for a couple weeks.
