OK, my turn to gripe!!

I am miserable. I've gone off the new medication and my side is still very tender and painful.  Just to add some spice to life, my dentist put his latex gloved hand in my mouth and I'm VERY allergic to latex.  I've gone through 2 Epipens, God knows how many Benadryl and I'm still  swollen and somewhat itchy. I hate using the Epipens because of the speedy jumpy feeling.  Epinephrine is banned except for RX.  People were using it as "speed" and the DEA and FDA clamped down on it.  It was killing people.

And all this is on top on the daily pain.  Now I'm scared to eat because of my side and I also have food allergies.  I find a new one fairly frequently.  Keeps life interesting.  I can't breathe because even smelling the Latex gets my nose and I'm using a nasal steroid.  YUCK!!  GO AWAY!!  PICK ON SOMEBODY ELSE!!

Now, that felt good!

Thank you Sandee.  That's good to know because when these hit me, I use a lot of Benadryl.  Thanks for the info.

Oh Sara I am so sorry! Your dealing with so much. I do hope your feeling better soon. Take it easy on the Benadryl though as it will increase pain medications and I do not want you having more problems:)

sorry to hear of this mishap! I freak out about the dentist for every reason imaginable. However Im not allergic to latex. But I cant get the novacaine that has the epinephrine in it! It makes my heart race so fast it feels like its going to explode! they have to use the other kind instead which doesnt work as good of course. I once had to have an infected dry socket debrided/scraped out with NO NUMBING because it wouldnt work! The dude took a metal hook in the infected socket where I had just had a tooth pulled from a few days prior and raked it in the pit to make a new clot form. I about passed out in the chair it hurt so bad!  I hate going to the dentist no matter what its for! Anyways, now whenever i have to go in for anything, even though its in my chart NOT to use that type of novacaine, I always make them double check/ask them before they stick that needle in my gum!

And your dentist should be notified concerning the agony and distress he has caused you. How thoughtless.

Thank you all. It's definitely in the charts.  That office is paperless and LATEX ALLERGY in red pops on the screen.  It stays there until you click OK.  If you go to any other part of my chart, it pops again.  I'd reminded him.  DH is very upset with him to this as this is the worst one I've ever had.  But that's the nature of allergies. They get worse every time.

Mellie:  Thank you.  Yes  I had a slice of cantaloupe four mornings in a row. On the fifth day, it hit me.  That's what really scares me. I keep the EpiPen with me just in case I'm not at home and one hits.

Jaybay:  You poor thing.  You are in worse shape than I tonight.  How many months pregnant are you??  I measure my swelling by how I looked when pregnant.  I'm only 3 to 4 months tonight.  I bet by my scale,  you're a good 6 or 7 months along, if not more.  Bless your heart, you've still got a sense of humor.  Mine usually goes away.

So sorry, Sarah, that you have all this on your plate.  I, too, don't understand what your dentist was thinking.  Even if it wasn't in your chart, with so many people being allergic to latex thee days, most ask.

You're allergic to cantaloupe?  You poor thing.  All kinds?  You aid this is recent.  You could eat it before with no problems and then all of a sudden you can't?  That is scary. Feel better sweetie. xox

Misery loves company my friend.  I killed myself last night by thoughtlessly consuming half a piece of pizza.  How dumb am I??!!  Still paying for it today.  Look like a hot air balloon ready to take off into the stratosphere, and you know what that feels like.  :-/

That is awful!  Strong allergies can be scary.  I know you know what you're doing with your body but as someone who doesn't have allergies, I always worry about anaphylactic (sp?) shock in other people when they talk about big allergies like that..
I hope it stops and the pain goes away for you.

Woops, I forgot to add that I've had gall bladder problems before but never with pain this severe or widespread.

I just found the following on another web site:  " Food allergies are also major contributors to gallbladder disease. They cause a histamine release that can cause excessive fluid in the bile ducts, causing them to back up. It is important to isolate those specific foods by eliminating them and introducing them back in one at a time and watch for reactions, so that you know just what is causing the problem."

I found out I'm allergic to cantaloupe just prior to this episode.  So this could be one reason my side is going bonkers.  Ain't allergies great!!

I'm SOOOO sorry for what you went through yesterday AND last night!! Your PM was heartbreaking when I read it. I can't even begin to imagine what it feels like to experience what you have been experiencing!!

I wish there was SOMETHING that I could do to help you. I can't even imagine what that Doctor was thinking when he put on the Latex Gloves and "PUT THEM IN YOUR MOUTH"!!!  He should not charge you for your visit and should be covering ANY and ALL Doctor visits that will ensue because of his incompetency!!! There is NO excuse for that type of error when it's IN your Chart!!!
