Other medications given for pain management...

As an addition to my earlier post...the PA who stated I wouldn't experience withdrawal, prescribed me a Medrol dose-pack and the muscle relaxant cyclobezeprine (Flexeril). Other medical/psychiatric conditions I have are hypothyroidism and bi-polar disorder/depression for which I take levothyroxine (Synthroid), divalproex (Depakote) and bupropion (Welbutrin). The medication information for the Medrol dose-pack states cautious use in those with hypothyroidism, psychiatric history, being treated with an anti-convulsant, and on bupropion, as it could produce mood changes and affect the seizure threshold. I was told by the psychiatrist not to abruptly stop the divalproex and keep taking the bupropion, as it could trigger seizures. All of this information is alarming. I don't know which is worse...the pain or the fear of adverse drug interactions/physical and psychiatric side effects of taking the drugs to treat the pain!

I can't guess on your medications. I urge you to consult your pharmacist. They truly are an often over looked source for information on medications and their interactions. They are the specialists, the experts in medications.

If the information your pharmacist provides you conflicts with your physicians perscription it should be the pharmacist that contacts your physician. Let them determine if the meds can be safely taken together. If they are contraindicated they can best decide which meds to alter.

Best of luck to you.

I was on prednisone and medrol pack numerous times all the while having undiagnosed hypothyroidism and didnt notice any problems. However Im not on those other medications so I cant vouch for that. I would call the phamacist and see what they say about it possibly interacting/causing problems. Good luck to you

Sounds scary. I would definitely have a detailed talk with your Doctor about combining these drugs. You can never ask too many questions when it comes to your health. Please do your homework on this one.

I wish I had better advise for you.
Good luck,
