Pain behind knees, help!

Im a 20 year old male from Iowa, and i have bi-latteral knee pain. The pain is deep inside the back of the knee on both sides and is a constant non-stop pain.

My MD started me on cardadopa/levadopa because he thought it could be RLS and that didnt work.

Then i went to a bone and joint specialist and his x-rays showed cysts. After lots of physical therapy and no improvement, i got an MRI. This showed nothing so i went on the the pain specialist.

The sioux falls pain specialist said he had no idea what was wrong with me and sent me packing.

So.
HELP ME!
I cant stand it anymore.

from your description, it seems like we might have similar conditions. sad thing is, i started feeling mine at the exact age you are and now i am 30. and people told me then, and still tell me now, that i am too young too be experiencing so much pain. i have been told it is patellafemoral pain syndrome. what ***** is nobody has a clear answer to what this is. it seems like a rubber stamp diagnosis if you ask me. mine has gotten much worse over the years, so bad that i cannot have any job where i must stand for long periods and all physical activity is basically cut. but i am now adamant in my search for a cure or some relief. i am pretty much putting everything on hold. and searching for a remedy. please let me/us know if you find anything or anyone who helps you out.

Hello Longboardben,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum.

It sounds like you have gotten the run around from the "specialists." I am sorry for your pain and obvious frustration. If I understand you correctly your PCP rued out RLS. If I understand the condition correctly it doesn't normally cause pain but it is very uncomfortable with such sensations as: creeping, itching, pulling, creepy-crawly, tugging, or gnawing.

Do not give up on your search for answers. You are too young to suffer with continual pain. There are other Ortho's or Neurologists out there that may find the reason for your unusual pain. If you need a referral return to your PCP and request one. If you don't need a referral than do a little research and find the best that is connected to a large teaching hospital. I can't even count the number of physicians I saw before I got a diagnosis.

Don't be discouraged. Keep searching. And please let us know how you are doing. We all learn together.
Peace, Tuck

Sorry that your in such a turmoil with the Doctors. I would definitely go back to the original Doctor who diagnosed you with the cysts and see if he could recommend a surgeon that could possibly remove them. I don't know anything about your condition or that they can be removed but we are here for support.
You may want to consider a new Pain Management Specialist too. There must be more than one in the area that you live in.
You are your own advocate and only you can make things happen for yourself. Keep at the Medical community and don't give up. There is surely someone out there that can help you.
Please take care and good luck in finding a treatment.
