Pain specialist cracking down!

THIS ISN'T REALLY A QUESTION, BUT A COMMENT! ----- My pain doctor has stopped writing any and all prescriptions for oxycontin and oxycodone. She was suspicious why some patients only wanted oxycontin or oxycodone for their pain, as well as patients claiming it's the only drug(s) that helped their pain. I understand the suspicion, and would wonder about the same thing myself, considering all the different pain medications available nowadays. I guess some patients were almost violent about not being prescribed their "regular medications (oxycontin + oxycodone). Any thoughts or comments???

Yes the doctor is writing prescriptions for anything and everything but oxycontin and oxycodone (and anything with that drug in it).

Lots of doctors won't prescribe them because there is such abuse of them.  My little town has a huge pill and heroin problem with young kids.  I would never tell my doctor what I wanted prescribed.  I've run the gamut with most narcotics and at the moment I am on oxycontin and oxycodone.  I also don't just use meds for my pain.  I've done tons of procedures, prescriptions gels, compounding creams, lidoderm patches ... the list goes on.  It is really unfortunate that people with really serious chronic pain have to jump through hoops to get the right medications.

Is the doctor writing scripts for other narcotics or other medications (maybe like Lyrica or Neurontin?)

What do you do if the other pain meds don't work for you? I have only took percocets after my back surgery and my pm doctor gives them to me after procedures and bad flare up, but choose not to take them permanent, don't want build a tolerance.

Percocet has oxycodone in it, if that's what your asking? It is no longer prescribed also.
