Percoset & Xanax

Im currently taking percoset due to a recent surgery. Im feeling terribly anxious but am unsure if it it safe to take a xanax. I have .25 xanax but never mixed before. My last pain pill was taken approx. 2 hours ago.

I know this response is tardy and apologize for that fact. My first question would be did the same physician prescribe the percocet that prescribed the xanax or was he/she aware of all your medications? Did you get them filled at the same pharmacy?

I hope by this time you have called your physician or consulted with your pharmacist on taking the two at the same time. I take diazepam (similar to xanax) and hydrocodone together under my direction of my physician. If fact she insists that I take them together when my pain becomes severe. One potentiates the other. My diazepam is prescribed for muscle spasms not anxiety. It is a medication that accomplishes both as I would xanax would also do to some degree.

So if you haven't please consult with your physician. How you are doing today? We will look forward to your updates.

I have no experience with Xanax or any other anti anxiety medicines.  I personally would not mix any medications without discussing thouroughly with my doctor first.  If your doctor is unavailable, call the pharmacy.  The pharmacy knows more about medications and side effects then the doctors, I think.
