Right hip and leg pain

I have pain in my right hip, leg, thigh that goes all the way down into my foot. I exercise by walking daily but the pain has gotten so bad I can no longer lay on my right side to sleep anymore. Sometimes I limp a bit because of the pain. Also at night when I lay on my left side, my right leg even hurts then. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it? Thanks !

Glad to hear it helped. WHY this muscle is debatable is beyond me. I found out about his muscle quite by accident when my doctor mentioned it. At least it showed my doctor had knowledge of this area. I wish I could exercise at present. My pain goes down th\o the ham string area of my leg and is constantly annoying. Keep me informed on how you are doing. Thanks for the info.

Hey, Thanks for the info and the video link. I watched it and started the excercises last night. It hurts so bad it's almost unbearable to do but today I am sore but do not have the pain going down my leg! I will continue to do these exercises and I'll bet that has been my problem all along. My DR. of course did not even mention this piriformis muscle could cause anything. He just wanted to put me on pain meds. & muscle relaxers. Thanks again. I have been so desperate to be pain free!  :)

Check out something called the periformis muscle. It is highly debated in the medical community BUT it is real and I have constant problems with this muscle.
