Severe Back Pain

About 3 years ago I was stabbed in the back 3 times.  I had a collapsed lung wich was fixed and treated.  As time goes on I have worsening back pain that has become daily and excruciating.  I have no insurance and I was wondering if I splurged out of pocket for a doctor would it be possible to get a presciption for a painkiller (vicodin, oxycontin or percocet) or somthing like that to ease my pain?

I could be wromg but....doesnt MRI's w/contrast show muscle damage?

I would find a GP if you dont already have one, bring your medical records that show where you were stabbed in the past and explain youre situation.  That youre in pain but dont have ins.  You shouldnt have trouble finding a Dr. to work w/you.

Hope this helps.  Good Luck!

There are really no tests that can show pain from what I have been told.  I'm at a very good pain management clinic and they post it all over the lobby that pain isn't all in the head and that the pain IS real.  You may need to find a pain management clinic.  Good luck.  I couldn't imagine going about this without insurance.

I don't think so.  The pain is from muscle damage and nerve damage I think.  Will any tests show that?

what kind of problem is it?
There no test or x-rays of any kind that shows the source of the pain?

Yes, but it's not the kind of problem that can really be proven by x rays or mri.  I just don't want to waste my time or money.  But I need something its starting to effect my work and personal life, and tylenol and motrin just are not cutting it anymore

if youre in legit pain most Dr's have no problem giving you a prescription for pain meds..  Is this what youre asking?
