Soarness in Chest

Hi, I am a 20 year-old male and I have had some problems with mild chest pain. The pain is mainly on my left side near the bottom of the rib cage. It's not really an achy pain. It's a dull mild pain that I feel whenever I lay on my stomach or when I twist my body around. I just want to know if this is something serious I should worry about or not. Any input would be very helpful.

Thanks

Hi Cmeyer,

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your chest pain at such a very young age.

Normally cardiac pain is not relieved by changing positions....nor is it aggravated by different positions. I am far from an expert. This is my personal opinion and observation. As suggested above you should consult your PCP.

If "twisting" your body and "laying" on your stomach induces the pain it sounds more muscle related. It could also be an internal organ on the general area....though less likely. Only your PCP can provide you with an accurate diagnosis. Please make an appt and have this evaluated.

We'll look forward to your updates.

Best of Luck to you,
~Tuck

I think if you are having any type of chest pain you need to be seen in the ER immediatly. If not that please try to get into a cardiolgist ASAP. Do not treat this lightly until you know your diagnosis, Please go to ER right away, no chest pain is ever to small to have checked out.
Take care, K

A trip to your family MD will be of good help to you. There are several organs under your left side ribs and it could be any of those or none. You do not give a good enough history or enough information to say much else.
