The not knowing....

My wife Kim is suffering with sharp pain in many different area's of her body.
She has had it.
I need whatever help anyone can offer. here is her story.
In May 2011 she starting having sharp pains in her left wrist. chalked it up to lifting something at work. August 2011 on vacation she had to buy a wrist splint. it did not bother her between May and August. The first week of september the pain was now in the right wrist and starting to spread to feet, forarms, legs... she saw her family MD. nightmare begins...
saw, MD, sent to orthopedic surgeon, sent to Rumethologist, sent to neurologist, sent back to Rumethologist, sent to Gynocologist, sent to Derotologist.... we had 5 different ER visits because of the severe pain.
she has ultrasound, xrays, mri, catscan, 50 blood tests....all negative
she has been on 2 different types of steroids, she has been on pain meds , that she hardly took, she has had antibiotics.... there is so much more that she has gone through...
she is currently being treated for a virus... possibly lime, although the blood test have ruled out lime. i understand the blood test may not pick lime up but someone could still have it. we are hoping that is the case. she has been taking now for 7 days. the doctors say that it may take 2 weeks to feel any relief. it has been 12 weeks of her suffering, and i know it is not in her head.
has anyone had anything similar to this, we are desperate for help. the worst for her is the ," not knowing".
thanks

You're right about the Lyme's.  It's a tricky one.  What happens is that the type of bacteria that causes Lyme's has the ability to hide in other cells, so it will actually still be there but undetectable by the standard blood test.  I suggest posting again in the Lyme's community for more information.  Look for a screen name of ewford or JackieCalifornia.  There are a couple of other regulars there who will have more information of how to get the correct tests and get some answers to know for sure if you're dealing with Lyme's.

Thank you for not being dismissive about what is happening with your wife, because it's definitely not in her head.  That is something people with chronic illnesses face all the time, even when their loved ones do care.  A lot of times the loved ones don't know how much their family member is dealing with.  The antiviral treatment is just about as bad as the virus being treated itself and will cause symptoms like nausea and fatigue.

Be aware that things like MS can also be very difficult to diagnose in order to be treated.  The scans can show up as negative or be interpreted as such for years and years before getting an answer.  I don't think what you're describing is MS, but it's another tricky one to diagnose.
