Vicodin

My dr prescribed 500mg prn for pain last Friday.  I take 1-500mg every morning to help alleviate the pain I have from DDD and different conditions.  Friday night I woke up during intense nightmares about my heart surgery, go back to sleep and start all over.  This has happened each night since taking it but yet previous I would have only occasional nightmares.

I don't know why it would cause me nightmares when I take it at 7am and go to bed normally around 9-10 pm? I have taken Vicodin before after another surgery and never had this problem, so I'm stumped why this is happening.

Anyone else have this happen?

Thank you =)

I do think it definitely made me have nightmares more than I normally would.  I've been suffering alot of anxiety about my health issues and not having a diagnoses or cause etc and I think Vicodin only made it worse.

I didn't take it for a day and that night no nightmares, but the next day I took it again and still no nightmares, so hopefully they're gone =)

Hi Lisa,

Sometimes medications work differently at different times. Our systems change over time. Although you take the Hydrocodone early in the morning it does not completely exit your system for hours and may be affecting your sleep.

But it's really a guessing game. Your nightmares may not be related to the hydrocodone ... but it's my guess it does.

Best of Luck to You.
