lortab withdrawals

I have been taking lortab 10/500 4 x per day for pain in my neck to due a herniated disk between c5 & c6 , I tried to take to prescribed dosage , but my brain just kept saying "take more" , mainly because the pain was still there , and taking more helped the pain , but I was up to 8 , sometimes 10 a day. now i am out , and cannot refill until the 18th of april , I am in alot of pain , but now have to deal with the withdrawal symptoms .. irritability , diarrhea , nausea , restlessness , cold sweats .. etc ...

I read earlier to take immodium ad , for the diarrhea  , and that has helped so far .. as far as the restlessness , and cold sweats , I dont know what to do.

I am only 30 years old , and am not ready to get the surgery yet , but the dr keeps recommending it , and did 2 steroid injections , but did not do the trigger points , and I think thats why I still have the pain..

I also apply ice regularly , usually every hour for 15 min or more, and that helps a little too.

I just want this pain to go away without getting addicted to lortabs. I have read that ultracet has a non habit forming mixture of narcotics , but everytime I ask about it , they change the subject.

any advice at all will help

thanx

I would have the surgery.  I had my surgery at 34 years of age.  I'm looking into getting a second fusion to fix the other discs.  I've never ran out of my meds early no matter how much it hurts.  My pain is also uncontrolled.  I've had 14 spine injections in 1.5 years time, none helped, but made the pain worse.

If the pain is bad enough, you will have the surgery.

You will get into trouble if you have to take a drug test and shows no lortab.  They look for that kind of thing too.  I've seen the tests with pcp's too, especially if they think you are additcted.  Be careful.  You need to tell your doc that the lortab isn't helping with the pain next time you go in.
