pain management doctors

I've had conflicting comments on what pain management is.So is to help you control pain with or without medication.

Hey Kitty,

Here in the good ole USA PMP function differently in different states. Molly is correct that they can prescribe medications, perform treatments or procedures to ease your pain, recommend PT or in some cases even recommend surgery to treat your pain.

In Wissy (as you call it) they do not follow PM patients continually and prescribe pain medications. They will just evaluate your condition, make recommendations to your PCP and/or refer you to other physicians such as surgeons for treatment. In other states they are the only physicians that can prescribe opiates on a continual basis for PM patients.

Confused yet??? I am. I don't know why every state seems to be a bit different but we are. If you want anymore confusing replies just ask me.  LOL

Hi Kitty:

Pain Management Docs are mainly used to control pain with medication but some use techniques like injections or electricity. I don't have a PM Doc, I see my Doc for everything including meds. How are you anyway...........
